The Color Tint effect applies a gradient tint to your image based on its brightness values, mapping dark areas to one color and bright areas to another.
How it works
Color Tint analyzes the luminance (brightness) of each pixel in your image and creates a gradient between two colors you specify. Dark areas of the image are mapped toward one color, while bright areas are mapped toward another. The effect preserves the original luminance pattern of your image while replacing its colors.
This differs from a simple color overlay by maintaining the detail and contrast of the original image while completely transforming its color palette.
Use cases
Color Tint is particularly effective for:
- Creating duotone effects (like Sepia but with custom colors)
- Setting the color palette of different visual elements
- Simulating colored lighting

Good pair
Some Butterchurn presets are very colorful. Use this effect to bring them to a solid color palette.
